Installing the Reader

  1. Save the Striata Reader debian package to disk*.
  2. Double click on the downloaded package.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install.
* Firefox users can open the file directly using GDebi (and then proceed to step 3), but Konqueror users should not choose to open the file directly with Ark.

Using the Striata Reader on Ubuntu or Kubuntu

There are two ways to launch the Striata Reader

  1. Click on any valid .emc document. This will result in a credential dialogue being launched if any credentials are required. An appropriate viewing application will then be launched with the encrypted document contents.
  2. Select the Striata Reader from the desktop application menu (Applications, Accessories in Ubuntu or Applications, Utilities in Kubuntu). A file selection dialogue will allow one to select a .emc document to open. Followed by the normal procedure outlined above.
