Plant Telecommunications goes live this month with Electronic Bill Presentment & Payment. This innovative service allows electronic delivery of monthly bills and other communication, directly into the customer’s email inbox.

“We chose Striata because its email “push” concept seemed to be a perfect fit for us. The simplicity of use for our customers coupled with the highly compressed and secure delivery method were the deciding factors. The seven exchanges that we serve with local telephone service are primarily rural communities, and currently limited to dial-up internet access. Striata’s PUSH methodology ensures that the entire bill is delivered into the inbox and the one-click payment helps convince our customers to use it each month and turn off the paper. Our feedback from customers so far has been overwhelmingly positive,” according to David Nelson, customer service manager for Plant Telecommunications.

“A Telco bill is ideal for ‘push’ email billing. The biller is able to present a summary page and navigation to detailed call records and other information, all from within a single secure, highly compressed, email attachment. Striata BillPay allows for ‘one-click’ payment, directly from the summary page, all without the need to link back to any website.” says Garin Toren, COO of Striata North America.

There are many advantages for the consumer in receiving their electronic bill in this manner: they do not need to register, or choose and remember a username & password, and do not need to link to any website to view and pay their bill. The entire bill, including all call detail and marketing material, is ‘delivered’ into their email inbox. The recipient does not need to ‘do’ anything or link to anywhere. This method of electronic billing is closely aligned with the current paper process, except that it is significantly more convenient – one click to open the secure eBill, and one click to pay it.

There are also considerable efficiencies and opportunities for the biller. Plant Telecommunications will benefit from vastly reduced paper and postage costs, quicker delivery of the bills to the consumer (same day) and dramatically improved and personalized marketing opportunities. As with many other Striata billers & financial institutions, it is also expected that there will be a meaningful improvement in ‘days sales outstanding’ (The average time it takes a customers to pay their bill).

“The Striata solution also gives us an effective, targeted and exclusive marketing channel that previously didn’t exist. Our exchanges are spread throughout southern Georgia and traditional advertising methods haven’t worked for us in a way that is cost effective. Only a small percentage of people seeing a television commercial or hearing a radio ad would actually be a potential customer. We look forward to improved and timelier communication with our exchanges through the eBill method. Another benefit for us was the ability to process credit cards, debit cards and checks by phone in our office for the first time; a service greatly appreciated by our customers,” adds Nelson.
