With no registration required, Striata BillPay enables billers to gain maximum customer adoption, by taking their ePayment strategies to the consumer. Striata’s 'one-click', electronic payment capability is built into the eBill, allowing customers to make a bill payment directly from within the encrypted, emailed bill.

How does Striata BillPay work?
  • The biller delivers an electronic replica of the traditional paper bill directly into the customer's inbox as a secure attachment to an email.
  • The customer opens the bill with a shared secret (if required).
  • A branded payment button securely transmits the customer's payment information directly to the biller's transaction server.

This solution complements existing eBilling (EBPP) websites and self service portals by providing two strategic enhancements:
  1. Paper turn off: The majority of internet self service customers still receive their paper bills and statements. The delivery nature of email bills dramatically increases paper turn off adoption.
  2. Entire customer base: Striata BillPay is available to everyone with an email address. In most instances, it is the first step to that ultimate digital relationship with the consumer.

One-Click Payment


The customer billing experience is significantly enhanced through the addition of Goodmail ’s CertifiedEmail to Striata’s Secure eDocument Delivery Solution.

This partnership creates a unique ability to initiate secure electronic payment directly from within the body of the email communication (see screenshot below) - recipients are therefore not forced to open the attachment, unless they want to view more detailed billing information. CertifiedEmail recipients receive their bill as a secure PDF attachment.

A key element of this successful and highly adopted strategy is trust in the authenticity of the email message and encrypted attachment. The multiple trust layers associated with Goodmail CertifiedEmail gives recipients peace of mind when receiving and initiating payment from within these emails, and they are easily recognizable in the inbox by their unique blue trust seal.

Goodmail’s CertifiedEmail messages are imprinted with unique tokens which internet service providers (ISPs) validate individually when the messages are delivered. A blue ribbon envelope icon replaces the standard inbox icon, assuring recipients that the email can be trusted, and is from the sender it appears to be from.

CertifiedEmail is built directly into the recipient's email application, with no downloads or plug-ins required. It is available only to senders with the best email practices and consumer reputation. Through Goodmail’s certification, senders are identified by the ISP as trustworthy, and inbox delivery is guaranteed. Spam, content and volume filters are bypassed and all links and images are rendered by default. The ‘pay my bill’ button is clearly visible, enabling recipients to initiate payment with ease.

No sensitive payment detail is captured or appears in the body of the email. Only consumers who have previously made payments electronically are given this ‘one-click’ option. A high-level bill summary is included as well as partial payment identification information, sufficient to allow the recipient to identify what they are paying for and from which account.

CertifiedEmail is supported by the largest email providers and is currently available at AOL, BT, Cox Communications, TELUS, Yahoo!, AT&T, Comcast, RoadRunner and Verizon.

Only recipients who maintain email accounts at these participating ISPs will be able to receive payment enabled email messages. (Those that are not in this network will still receive their bill and can initiate payment the traditional way via Striata BillPay – a ‘registration-free’, one-click electronic payment facility embedded in the secure attachment.)
